Question:
Do you think it is time for the Extreme Home Makeover show to tone it down some?

Don't you think due to the economic times that EHM should kinda cut back on spending so much on these houses....I am sure the people they do it for deserve help. But do they really need a $500,000 home.
There are thousand upon thousands of people that are in need.
For the money they spend on one show they could probably help at least 10 families who are suffering and losing jobs and homes through this terrible economic crisis we are in
What do you think??

i completey agree. yes, the families they help are in need and in every way deserve help, but they over due it. on top, of a 500,000 home they get other things like medical needs paid for, all new furniture and appliances a vacation while the home is being built etc. it's getting old, and theres too many people in america who need help, for them to spend all their time and money on a couple dozen families.

And your point is...? EHM is doing what they can to really help out deserving families who desperately need it. I see what you're saying, but what you are talking about is the kind of help that it's way beyond this show's ability to deliver. How exactly would they help out 10 families more than one? They could just not redo any homes and give them the money out-right, but when that money's gone, THEN what? At least with a new house with the mortgage paid on it, that's a guaranteed place to live, even without a job. It's not called "Extreme Career Makeover." Though there may be a good idea in that somewhere...

While on paper this looks like a fair and good idea, the reality of this reality show is that it is hugely profitable to the network because of the high viewer ratings. One thing that draws the viewers is the plights of the people and, secondly, the "extreme" homes they build, which are a wonder to see in themselves. If they went into a subdivision and built 5 mediocre homes for $100,000 or 10 prefabed homes for $50,000, while that would be practical and certainly serve a humanitarium purpose, it was not hold the viewers interest like this one 1/2 million home built for a needy family. I think it comes down to revenue and $$$ for the network, and this would be a more profitable route to go to draw and maintain an audience.

No, I do not feel it is too ridiculous. Much of the hard work, parts, home equipment and furnishings are donated through the workers, volunteers, developers, and brands. I do appreciate your factor despite the fact that, much less cash spent in keeping with condominium might permit extra residences to be constructed. The repute of the exhibit is the truth that the houses are of the high-quality high-quality and layout and a dream come actual for a few very deserving households. I feel they're doing a excellent humanitarian carrier.

I know the economy is in bad shape but most of the things done are donated. The prices of the homes are very high but most is based on the size of families and disabilities that require extra features or equipment. I wish more could be helped and I know we all are aware of at least 2-3 people in our own lives that could benefit from such a blessing but most receiving have such hardships they are all very deserving.

It probably helps the ratings with all of the magnificent stuff they do to the homes. You're right, it would help out more, but no matter what there are always going to be families in need.
